There is an energy track in the Academiehuis. This orbit runs along the longitudinal axis of the church and continues into the High Choir of the Academiehuis. This orbit was once the reason for building a space of reflection, religion and meeting in Zwolle at this location. This trajectory of energy is included in the installation and plays an essential role in the experience of the work.

Jan Pieter Gootjes
Jan Pieter (b. 1950) is a visual artist. In addition to installations, he makes paintings, sculptures, wood prints and photographs. He studied at the Minerva Academy in Groningen. In addition, he did some specific training at Phoenix-opleidingen in Utrecht.
In the work, attention to both areas is reflected in themes such as Silence, Fire and Connection. This is also reflected in the form. In an installation, the visitor is invited to become a participant.

(2022 and 2023)
The installation KNOWN IV. 40 cushions lie there. 20 on the left, 20 on the right, with a path in between. At the end are 12 stones with the word KNOWN in them. Along the edge of the high choir you can see 24 pine cones supported by brass rods. The hundred-year-old cushions were used in an Anglican church. You can use one pillow as a kneeling cushion. For a meditative moment in the spiritual space of the High Choir.
HOPE. An image of liberation. The image is a reminder of slavery. Deep reminder of your origins.
KNOWN V. A search for the catacombs of the soul.
